SC judges challenge to panel forces back investigation

SC judges challenge to panel forces back investigationJudge Bill Wilson has succeeded in winning a challenge over the panel that was made to investigate his wrong doings. He has stood against the formation of the panel itself.

Judge Bill had pleaded to High Court to stop the investigation against him. While he did not question the setting up of the panel, he had asked that public hearing of his conduct should not be done.

This has led to another question as to whether the judges should be asked to make adequate disclosures in the public domain or not.

Meanwhile, Justice Bill has charged with having business relationship with Alan Galbraith, QC. Alan had appeared before him in one of the Court of Appeal hearings that took place in 2007.

Justice Bill is one of the three judges who returned a High Court ruling that would have led to the awarding of levies worth $8 million on merino wool growers. The money was supposed to be given to the Wool Board.

At the time of the hearing, it is said that Justice Bill was liable to pay $242,804 to Mr Galbraith, the Wool Board's lawyer.
