Contact Energy performs badly, but CEO gets high bonus

David BaldwinSince his appointment in company in 2006, Managing Director of Contact Energy, David Baldwin received his second highest cash bonus.

It is despite the company's, second lowest return on its equity in the sector.

The annual report for 30th June, 2010 was reported by the Contact Energy, electricity retailer and generator firm.

The company is listed in New Zealand.

The report showed that the salaries of 297 employees out of 1050 staff are more than 100,000 dollar per year. In the 2010, the bonus of Mr. Baldwin was 364,000 dollars, which was 246,000 dollars in previous fiscal year.

The Managing Director took pay package of 1.2 million dollar at home. This is despite the performance of the company, which achieved a very low equity return of 5.4% last year, compared to its rivals, Meridian Energy with 5.6% and Mighty RiverPower with 9.7%
