Claim of gagging over QAC deal

Claim of gagging over QAC dealThe lakes district voters have been urged to sound out candidates for election on the contentious alliance between the Auckland International Airport and Queenstown Airport Corporation by the Queenstown Community Strategic Asset Group.

On the other hand the group is claiming that the council has effectively gagged candidates from speaking because of the pending court action.

Meanwhile two mayoral candidates expressed their speech by a local newspaper and said they were aware of the public thought about them. At the same time it was more about protecting the future of the council and themselves.

QAC has sold 24.99% of its shareholding to the Auckland Airport in exchange of 27.7 million dollars in the month of July. This has been a major issue in the election and nobody wants to talk freely over this issue as the court action is still pending. The spokesman for the group, John Martin said the group and the Air New Zealand went to the court separately.

Both the applications were lodged in the High Court on 17th August at Invercargill but the decision on the matter is still to come.
