The Post-Storm meetings of the federated farmers are scheduled in the next week in Southland and South Otago. The first full week of the federated farmers and Rural support trust Southland initiatives has seen a picture of need built but the second week will be full of a series of meetings to consider the options of the farmers.
The provincial president of the Federated Farmers Southland, Rod Pemberton has said "as a team we have moved soon to break the ice with the food parcels, which are done to gather information from the affected farmers". The main aim of the meetings will be to find out the options needed to get the farmers back on track.
All the findings will be outlined in the meeting at Wyndham on Monday, at Otautau on Tuesday and Balclutha on Wednesday. The Federated Farmers Adverse Events Trust has supplied 100,000 dollars so far in direct aid to help the farmers.
This programme came as a light to the farmers as they have been struggling to get their feet in the market and it will also boost the confidence of the farmers.
