Today, in an accident, four children and a grown-up suffered serious injuries. The car bumped into a truck in the Bay of Plenty.
TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter pilot, Liam Brettkelly said that a helicopter was sent to the accident site at around 10am. Workers from the police, fire and ambulance rushed to the site.
Brettkelly said that the car was hit on the left side and was almost destroyed.
It was reported that one person got entrapped in the car. Therefore, the car had to be taken apart in order to pull him out.
According to Waikato Hospital Spokeswoman Mary Anne Gill, two girls, who were four and six years old, were in a serious condition lying in the hospital's intensive care unit.
It is said that both the girls were from Auckland.
Also, there was news that a ten-year-old child was supposed to be moved to the hospital from Whakatane in the afternoon. It is reported that the child was not in a serious condition and would be given treatment in a ward.
Gill revealed that the fourth child was brought to Starship from Rotorua Hospital today. She was not aware of additional details. She did not have any information regarding the adult who was also in the accident.
