Property Developer Refuses being Racist and Welcomes Overseas Investors

Remuera propertyRemuera property developer John McKearney has said that he does not encourage racism and has requested investors from other nations to come and settle in New Zealand.

He is a core member of the Save Our Farms group and it is said that he is not interested that foreign investors should be involved in the purchase of the farmland.

The group, which is mainly made up of rich business people, is against the selling of 8,000 ha of all agricultural and sensitive land of Natural Dairy to investors from outside New Zealand.

Recently, the Overseas Investment Office (OIO) gave green signal to Harvard University in America to buy Big Sky Dairy Farms in the Maniatoto district.

Harvard has also invested in many other core sectors of New Zealand. It stated that the main aim behind the purchase of the Big Sky Dairy Farms is to increase the operation and upgrade the irrigation and pasture management.

This week the Natural Dairy revealed the poll results mentioning that many were against the land sales to foreign investors.

According to the poll results, around 41% people said that they do not want that the farmland should be owned by Chinese and 27% felt `extremely uncomfortable' with American ownership.
