Police Confident of Arresting Broken Bottle AttackerA teenager was attacked with a broken bottle in his neck at the weekend and the police are confident of arresting the accused.

The 18-year-old teenager was stabbed with a broken bottle at a Napier party early on Sunday morning. After that he was taken to Hutt Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his nerve damage and now he is in stable condition lying in the hospital.

On Monday, Mike Signal, Detective Constable said, "Today police are still interviewing witnesses who are at the party and an arrest is likely".

The episode took place on the corner of Georges Drive and Rose St in the suburb of Marewa at around 3am on Sunday. To tackle the unruly partygoers on the street, police were called at once to the site, as told by Signal.

He added that the police were told that the wounded teen and his two friends had been enjoying the party before the incident occurred in the town.

Police were informed that another group approached the group of injured teen and an oral fight started between the two. Then someone stabbed the guy with a broken bottle, which seemed to be smashed on the road before making an assault.
