Republican Candidate for the Governor of Wisconsin on a Sticky Wicket

stem cell researchScott Walker seems to have got himself on a sticky wicket, as he has been answering questions according to what the situation deems fit. The candidate for the Wisconsin governorship from the Republican Party, Mr. Walker has denied on commenting whether he favors stem-cell research, even though, Mr. Walker had earlier opined that he was against embryonic stem cell research, when interacting with an anti-abortion group.

It needs to be mentioned here that the University of Wisconsin-Madison had led the research in embryonic stem cell research. And it was way back in the year 2006 when the Democratic Governor Jim Doyle had successfully won Governorship following his campaign that supported stem cell research.

Though, at this point of the time, things seem that they would go the Republican way, as according to polls, Mr. Walker is leading over the Democratic candidate Mr. Tom Barrett. Mr. Barrett is also the Mayor of Milwaukee and has been a staunch supporter of embryonic stem cell research.

Mr. Walker had while campaigning on Tuesday stated that he would support stem cell research only if the cells used in research aren't obtained using embryos. However, Mr. Walker denied answering questions on whether he would support an outright ban on embryonic stem cell research.
