Pet Insurance not Worthwhile for Healthy Pets

Pet Insurance not Worthwhile for Healthy PetsMany consumers are in a dilemma whether they should buy an insurance plan for their pets like dog or cat, especially when treatments and surgeries related to pets are very costly.

There is always a question in the minds of the consumers that would they have to pay more premiums if they will get coverage for their pets.

The consumers who are planning to get insurance for their pets should think of the monetary issues of a pet insurance and not how much they love their pets.

The main point is that if the pets are healthy and do not require any major treatment or operation, then it is not worth going for an insurance plan.

According to the American Pet Products Association, keeping a pet can be quite expensive. For example, people in the United States will spend around $47.7 billion on pets and about $13 billion on veterinary care.

For dogs, the surgical vet visits is around $532 and for cats it is about $278. Regular visit to a vet add an extra $225 and $203, respectively, says the APPA.

It is advisable to go for self-insurance instead of buying insurance. Save the money that is to be given for paying per insurance premiums and use that money for paying the huge vet bills.
