The boss of Queenstown Airport has said that it needs $40 million in cash if it wants to meet unexpected growth levels. The deal that it has signed with Auckland International is going to help it tremendously in getting the money it wants.
During a conference, CEO of Queenstown airport, Steve Sanderson said that with the money, it will be able to grow up rapidly and that Auckland connection is going to work just fine.
Adding to this were the views of Auckland International chief executive Simon Moutter who talked about the economics behind the deal and the much-publicized $27m alliance between the airports.
Queenstown, it is said, has already crossed the number of expected passengers. There have been close to 810, 00 people that have used this airport and close to 1 million are expected to come up next year.
This year, show the forecasts, close to 700,000 more people will be coming.
Out of the total people who came to the airport, 95 per cent belonged to the domestic side while the next 5 per cent came as foreigners. The overseas traffic has gone up by 22 per cent.
