According to a research that was recently conducted by UMR Research, it was found that in comparison to women men were more likely to avail of facilities like high-speed internet, home computer, and even a Sky TV connection.
The research work conducted by UMR Research also pointed out that men felt the need of a home computer more than that of women. It was found that 72% men felt that a home computer system was a necessity as compared to
65% women.
Even the requirement of a microwave was felt by more men, in comparison to women, as 56% men felt a microwave was necessary as compared to 42% women. The need for a Sky TV was the least, even though again men outnumbered women, with 22% men feeling the need of a Sky connection, in comparison to 15% women.
Explaining the differences in the requirements of both the sexes, the executive director for UMR Research, Tim Grafton felt that as most men were not comfortable with complicated cooking procedures, they felt the need of a microwave. He added that the need of a Sky connection also increased as men always needed a dose of sports news and events.
The survey by UMR Research also threw up some other interesting figures, with people above the age of 60 feeling that a television and a landline were important needs, even though the graph came down when it came to technology.
