A Melbourne medical clinic has been raided by police after it was suspected that a doctor has infected several women with hepatitis C, who had come to him for the treatment.
Anesthetist Dr. James Latham Peters was suspended from his duty in the month of February after it was found that as many as 12 women who received treatment from him contracted the disease at the Croydon Day Surgery.
According to the ABC reports, so far 35 cases have been reported to have infected with hep C by this doctor.
Dr. Peters has shown no interest in speaking with the police, whereas detectives have requested him to provide necessary information regarding this whole matter.
The urine sample of Dr. Peters that he gave to his employers in November has already been subpoened by police.
Dr. Peters was supposed to undergo urine tests by March 2008 under directions of the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria.
Victoria Police has also got in touch with Interpol and has decided to look at similar cases all over the world.
The police also searched houses at Hawthorn and Toorak. Newspapers reported that house of Dr. Peters was raided, but a spokeswoman for Victoria Police refused to confirm this report.
