Landcorp, New Zealand's major farmer backs up Silver Fern Farms as an effort to connect with rival Alliance Group on a self-reliant assessment of a union.
Silver Fern published a fresh letter to shareholding farmers of both meat companies over the weekend, in quest of their view on putting up a 'joint evaluation committee' to think about amalgamation and a combined policy for meat products.
The suggestion reportedly shocked Alliance chairman Owen Poole, who had pooh-poohed the prediction for any amalgamation, stating that it fetched lots of risks than benefits.
