Scientists have said that birth control pills and other contraceptive patches could now be replaced very soon with a clear contraceptive gel which will be simple to use and bad on the skin each day to prevent a conception. The researchers said that the best part of this new gel is the minimum side effects.
It can be used by applying on the legs, arms, shoulders or abdomen, and is believed to be much more suitable as a contraceptive in place of a pill. Researchers said that this feedback was obtained from 18 women who have used this gel by applying only 3 mg daily to prevent pregnancy.
There are no side effects of the gel which are similar to the pill like nausea and weight gain. It is going to be very successful because it can also be used during breast feeding a baby.
The gel works in a similar fashion to the patch by supplying progesterone and estrogen through the skin. It can however not come off like the patch and is therefore a more safer and sure way to avoid conception.
