Nurseries are putting almost 20,000 children in their care at a risk

NurseriesAlmost one out of every three nurseries is not doing anything sufficient to make sure that these children are in safe hands as per the education watchdog. Almost 20,000 kids may be at risk of suffering an ignorant attitude or ill-treatment as a result.

Almost 760 providers of childcare were discovered to be completely `insufficent' at safeguarding the children under the age of 5 under their care as per a revelation in an annual report by Ofsted.

The inspecting officers of the watchdog found after checking 40,818 nurseries and childminders that almost 29 percent were failing to adhere to good standards of safety and welfare for youngsters.

Several problems which included failure to detect and wipe-out hazards are keeping hygiene routines and taking steps to prevent children from abuse. Out of the total only a mere 12 percent were found to be outstanding on safety and another 59 percent were classified as good.

Children's Minister Sarah Teather said "Good quality childcare and early years education can directly tackle the gaps in attainment that open up in the critical early years of a child's life."
