An objective of the NZ approach is to construct a $1 billion industry. At the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic the latest aquaculture centre was formally commenced yesterday and will support in fueling a mounting thrust by native councils and industry troupe to yield the ocean's reward. Known as Ahumoana a Toi, the laboratory capability was unbolted yesterday afternoon by the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Phil Heatley.

Amid the 100 guests were regional personage, national research unit, aquaculture industries and iwi delegates.

Instigated to pick up a mounting requirement in instructing and learning in aquaculture and animal production, the centre is being urbanized in cycle with Bay of Plenty's regional aquaculture approach. An important objective of the New Zealand aquaculture approach is to construct an upholding $1 billion industry by 2025.
