A three-hour long Amadeus system crash delayed both domestic and international Qantas flights across the country as passengers had to be manually checked-in. Technical problems with the system started around 2 pm and affected other major airlines as well.
Delays were caused across all Amadeus equipped airports. "We were experiencing some technical issues as of about 5pm (EST) with our Amadeus check-in system", shared a Qantas spokeswoman.
"As a consequence, our staffs had to check people in manually, which was causing delays across the network." The airline has confirmed that the problem has been fixed and starting tonight, there would be no delays because of the Amadeus technical snag.
The problem was rectified by 8 pm, but there were still some delays while the airline took care of backlogs. But the situation is expected to be completely normal by tonight. Other major airlines which use the Amadeus check-in system and were affected by the crash include British Airways, Thai Airways and United Airlines.
