“Century heister” gets jail term in France On Tuesday, the appeal court at Lyon, in Southern France gave a decision to extend the sentence of Toni Musulin by five years in prison. Tony Musulin, a first time offender, who was dubbed by the media as century heister” is a former French security van driver.

He was accused of hijacking the convoy and stealing 11.6 million in Euros which is 16.3 million in US dollars) on board. He is accused of pulling the heist without gun or violence.

“The century heister” has been sentenced five years in prison. During his five year prison term, he has been denied family or civic rights and further he will have to pay 45,000 Euros fine.

As per Christophe Cottet-Bretonnier who was the lawyer of defense, Toni Musulin was the victim of justice exception, this being the first case in France, where a criminal convicted of fraud, who has no criminal record has been given the prison sentence. He was giving interview to the ITele television channel.

The incident happened in November 2009, when the accused stole the money by diverting the armored car, he was driving. After two weeks, he surrendered himself to the authorities and returned 9.1 million Euros.
