In Meadowlands Racetrack's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fund-raising event, as many as $1,497 was collected for the American Cancer Society on Friday, October 29.
The event was organized by cancer survivors, track photographer Michael Lisa and his wife, Annette.
A silent auction was also held, in which the pink whips signed by the Meadowlands drivers were up for grabs.
Kelly Ford, spouse of veteran Meadowlands trainer Mark Ford, gave the whips for the Lisa Photo Stride For The Cure Race.
Michael Lisa, who has won dozens of national and international photo awards, specially designed coffee mugs, shirts, and custom racing metaphors to be sold at the track on the eve of the event.
On the other hand, Full Sail University in collaboration with the American Cancer Society also organized a fund-raising 5-km walk on October 23. As many as 22,000 people took part in the campaign and more than $500,000 amount was raised.
The venue for the starting of the event was the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Stacy O’Mara, Director of Professional Development, said, “We are very pleased to have helped through our participation in this very special event for the American Cancer Society”.
