Trade union to struggle for fair Asbestos compensation

Trade union to struggle for fair Asbestos compensationThe Trade Union Unite has finally decided to knock the doors of the Supreme Court to settle down their fight for the sufferers of mesothelioma compensation.

As per the ruling of the Court of Appeal it was recently decided that the liability of the insurers started with the inhalation of asbestos dust by the workers who ended up developing a fatal cancerous condition called mesothelioma.

The court ruling meant that several thousand sufferers were not entitled to compensation because the deadly disease could take many years to appear in people's lungs who had been victims of asbestos dust.

The Court of Appeal examined one of the cases called `Excess Insurance Company' which had made insurance for steel erectors Humphreys & Glasgow in the 1960s and this company stopped trading in the 1990s.

As per the joint general secretary of Unite, Tony Woodley, the court ruling is a `kick in the guts' for those families who have lost their loved ones to the deadly disease and the insurance companies were trying to escape through their company's wordings and fancy legal arguments.
