During a nationwide campaign NSW police has requested the public to `dob in a drug lab'. A total of almost 900 kilograms of illegal drugs were seized by the NSW Police along with more than 24,700 cannabis plants during the initial 6 months this year. The value of this whole stuff was amounted to be 182.5 million dollars.
The police has decided to run Operation Unification under which people are encouraged to call up the Crime Stoppers hotline if they have doubts regarding any illicit drug activity. The operation will go on for almost two weeks including countrywide radio advertisements alerting communities to some indications of clandestine labs.
As per drug squad commander Detective Superintendent Nick Bingham, "The equipment in there isn't sophisticated. It's scientific equipment that's quite easily accessed. We've actually found 84 labs this year, which is about 20 per cent up on last year."
The police also said that the public should be careful about the abnormal chemical odors releasing from the premises, visitors, chemical drugs and even places which have black windows.
