In a statement today, Auckland International Airport ltd which is the New Zealand's largest airport consortium said that they are planning to meet US private bond investors to refinance the debt which is due in next March. A source who knows about the matter said that to manage the deal smoothly, Commonwealth Bank of Australia has been hired by the Auckland Airport.
The Bonds of at the least $100 million has planned to be issued by Auckland Airport. As the details of this transaction are supposed to be private, the source has requested not to be identified by the media.
As the New Zealand companies are trying to diversify their financing bases, Auckland airport joins the league of the companies like Transpower New Zealand Ltd., and Mighty River Power who have approached the USPrivate Investors for the finance.
The spokesman of the Auckland Airport said they are considering the plan to raise money in private placement market in the US. He further said that a road show is being conducted in United States for the possibility of issuing the notes in the private placement market.
