Relay for Life a Success in Australia

Relay for LifeThe annual Relay for Life in Bellingen, Australia, organized by the cancer council, already represents a huge success as participants affronted the bad and rainy weather conditions. Although the track of Relay needed to be adjusted to heavy rain, the event could start on Sunday afternoon according to plan.

Bellingen Mayor, Mark Troy underlines that residents would not stop fighting for the good cause just because of adverse weather conditions.

"I want to pay a special tribute to all those who are joining the survivors walk, these folk are an inspiration to us all", Troy points out. "This frank demonstration of support and encouragement for each other is to be admired and the result from Relay for Life events is the extra funding for much needed Cancer Research".

The organizers themselves estimate that the heavy rain influenced the amount of participants slightly but still expect a very successful fundraising outcome of the Relay for Life.

The event aims to not only raise money for cancer research but to raise awareness and seek support for the many cancer victims worldwide. The Relay for Life once got initiated in the US by the American Cancer Council and is now conducted in 21 countries.
