The earthquake in Christchurch has have given a small increase to property values. It has made better in the undamaged parts of it.
Yesterday Quotable Value (QV) spokeswoman Melanie Swallow alleged that there had been a small pickup in values across the city last month, but there was no earthquake damage in the borders.
She said that there were some areas which were considered for demand for class housing. Now some of them were paid healthy prices and some houses would be sold within next two or three weeks.
She supposed that this is a very positive sign as it indicates a growth market. There is a valuable demand for housing in the unaffected places. And due to the earthquake no one in the city is giving the actual rate of the houses during the sale.
She said that QV had informed the last average value for the city. It was $373,264 for the three months to August.
It excluded the data for parts of Canterbury which is outer Christchurch.
Swallow said that after the earthquake now insurance payments would help to encourage the economy and help start the housing market
