The website of the NHS has allowed saving several million pounds in unnecessary appointments with doctors since people can now go to the website and get their diagnosis online.
There were 100 million visitors to the NHS Choices website previous year as per its annual report. Almost 19 million people searched the website for information on swine "flu and 40,000 of them even left comments regarding medical services."
The website also allows access to its contents to patients free of cost including several other organizations like Primary Care Trusts, GPs' surgeries, Boots and Mumsnet. Some stuff on these 150 sites was observed by 25 million people since the last one year.
An online quiz which was filled up by 4,000 patients was the basis of the research done by the Imperial College. The research findings discovered that 37 percent believed using the service reduced their usage of GP services. This is equal to the savings of .
