New cigarette packs to display corpse images

cigaretteUnder the campaign to discourage people from smoking there will be graphic images of corpses and other diseases, caused by smoking, displayed on cigarette packs in the United States. This step has been taken by an Australian smoking expert who is being seen as a major move towards the global fight against tobacco.

The cigarette sellers have no choice but to incorporate the image on the cigarette pack and in advertisements to highlight the risks involved in smoking. The US Food and Drug Administration see this as one of the most significant changes in recent times to market tobacco.

A total of 9 images are going to be finalized from the list of 36 graphic images of corpses and other diseases showing rotting teeth, cancerous lungs and even little kids being exposed to passive smoking.

According to the Australian Council on Smoking and Health President, Mike Daubbe, this move has suggested the end of the control that was held by the tobacco industry in Washington.

He said, “This is an unprecedented step forward for the tobacco industry in the US, which is bigger than anywhere else on earth.”
