Packaging giant Tetrapak is chosen by Canterbury dairy company Synlait as the main contractor for its second processing plant. It has targeted for ordering from the next September.
Synlait held that there are certain conditions for its second plant; it has to produce 10.5 tonnes of whole milk powder per day or 8 tonnes of infant formula.
The partnership with Chinese company Bright Dairy and Food was confirmed by the company. At present it is ready with regulators to agree with the $82 million joining deal.
Shanghai-based Bright Dairy is considered as the largest supplier of processed dairy products of china.
Synlait assumes that the investment is input to its value-added export policy and it is expected to double creation capacity of 300 million litres of milk in a year at Synalit’s existing Dunsandel site south of Christchurch.
The Dunsandel plant manufactures infant formula and other formulated milk powders packaged for consumers in China and in a different place.
Chief executive John Penno of Synlait Milk said that their relationship with Bright Dairy was previously providing benefits in the course of contact to markets in China, chiefly on the eastern seaboard.
