New Research Finds No Association between Red & Processed Meats AND Prostate Cancer

Prostate CancerAs per a new study published in Nutrition Journal, the consumption of red or processed meats doesn't pose the risk to men getting affected with prostate cancer.

Earlier studies have linked the consumption of red or processed meats with the development of prostate cancer.

The research was carried out by a team of researchers led by Dr. Dominik Alexander of Exponent Health Sciences Practice. The findings are based on the meta-analysis of 26 studies including 15 studies on red meat and cancer risk and 11 on association between processed meats and cancer.

The researchers looked into the summaries of the studies and analyzed the impact of red meat and processed meat on the development of prostate cancer; assessed the connection of said foods with the advanced stage of the disease; evaluated the responsiveness of disease to doses of food; reviewed prospective sources of heterogeneity and evaluated the possible biases involved in the publication.

The researchers concluded, "The results of this meta-analysis are not supportive of an independent positive association between red or processed meat intake and prostate cancer".

They called for more researches to be done in order to bring out accurate results regarding the link between mutations related to diet and prostate cancer.
