Children of poor workers will now get dental care

Children of poor workers will now get dental careThis week the poor families had a reason to rejoice as the provincial government made an announcement to launch a program meant to make preventive dental care accessible for children of the poor workers.

Kingston and the Islands MPP John Gerretsen said, "It is hard to understand how families can live on $25,000 a year or less, but this will at least provide them with dental care because we know that people with serious health issues also often have serious dental issues."

The launch of the program was presided over by Gerretsen which was held at the headquarters of the health unit and it will soon begin with the program at a local level.

A very basic kind of dental care is available too people on social assistance, however the province-wide program will reach out to kids of the poor working class who have low-wages and usually don't offer any benefit plan or don't have any such health plan which has affordable premiums.

The dental care will also include performing X-rays and tooth fillings by the local dentists who are going to bill the health unit.
