Family donates for genetic research

Family donates for genetic research The members of a family have decided to donate a sum of six figures for a new research centre into a genetic condition which is rarely known by many since their son suffers from it.

The boy’s parents, Gus Alusi and Reem Waines, have decided to donate this sum since their son suffers from Fragile X Syndrome (FXS), a rare genetic disorder.

They have decided to support the Patrick Wild Centre for Research into Autism, Fragile X Syndrome and Intellectual Disabilities, based at Edinburgh University.

This is going to be the first center of its kind in the whole of the UK which aims at bringing a team of scientists and specialist doctors including a research clinic where patients can participate in clinical trials.

They also have plans to develop new treatments and therapies for children affected with this rare syndrome and trials are set to start by next year. They are hoping that the research will also lead to the developments of some efficient treatment for children suffering from autism with an association with the FXS.
