Dairy regulations estimating economy up to $450m

nzierIn an economic report made by the dairy giant that disclosed that Fonterra is being forced by laws. It was told to sell milk to more and more overseas. In New Zealand, the economy is estimated up to $450 million by the competitors.

At present the report by the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER) is judged by a Parliamentary select committee. It outlines the part of Fonterra's submission on the Dairy Industry Restructuring Amendment Bill.

According to the Dairy Industry Restructuring Act's raw milk regulations, it is estimated that Fonterra must trade up to a total of 600 million liters of milk per year to other processors.

In year 2001 there was the introduction of these laws. Also the in that time Fonterra was formed from a huge industry fusion. It was formed so as to make certain domestic competition.

In country about 96 percent of the raw milk supply is directed by the Fonterra. Last year about 14.7 billion liters of milk was collected from farmers by it.
