The Greater Western Area Health Service would be providing a free diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The tests will be conducted by Clinical Nurse Consultants at the Broken Hill Plaza, who would assist people in filling an online checklist to check, whether they can develop the condition later on in life.
The disease is known to be the fifth biggest reason behind the fatality of people living in Australia and is known to cause breathing problems among sufferers. Apart from assistance in filling out the online form, people coming to get them diagnosed would undergo a BP check and also an oxygen saturation check.
Denise McCallum stated that people suffering from the condition are not usually aware of their problem, until a complication arises. She further stated that, eventuality of the condition going undiagnosed among sufferers was very high and that 75% people suffering from COPD were in the dark about their problem.
While talking about COPD, Ms. McCallum stated that the disease did not have a specific remedy but a healthy lifestyle could certainly assist in controlling the condition. She suggests a regular physical regimen, a good diet and timely medication for people suffering from the condition.
